Kathmandu, July 25
Former leaders of dissolved Nepal Democratic Forum, who joined the Nepali Congress party along with their Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar before provincial and federal parliamentary elections last year, have complained that they did not get any role in the party.
Though an agreement made between the two parties for the unification mentioned that leaders and cadres of Democratic Forum would be given appropriate roles at all levels, no leader from the party has been included in the 83-member Central Working Committee.
Even Gachhadar is taking part in the CWC meetings as an invitee. He, however, has been made the party’s deputy leader in its Parliamentary Committee and holds the second position after President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
“Our status in the Congress party is that of a general member,” the dissolved party’s Vice-Chairman Ram Janam Chaudhary says, “Our role is almost nil here.”
Consequently, some leaders are taking rest in their own places whereas those residing in Kathmandu also do not have any responsibility. Some people are in contact with Bhanuram Tharu, who has launched a mission to revive the Nepal Democratic Forum.
Meanwhile, the party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma says leaders and cadres who have come to the party from the Democratic Forum will be fully integrated to the Congress after its statute will be amended in December.
