Fire still raging at Tara Air crash site in Kekar Butta, rescue team yet to arrive

Onlinekhabar talked to Shyam Bahadur Pun, a teacher based in Dana, who was part of the team that found the wreckage of the Tara Air plane with the call sign 9N-AHH at the Kekar Butta forest in Dana.

Pun says: A team of police and locals set out in search of the missing plane early in the morning. After walking for 2.5 hours, we found the wreckage of the plane.

crash-time-final_650In the morning, I had heard the sound of a blast of sorts. Using our hunches, we set out in search of the plane. As it was cloudy and the visibility was poor, we could not locate the crash site from a distance.

The plane is in pieces and fire is still raging at the site. Some bodies are inside the airplane, while some bodies are lying scattered on the ground. On the site, there are just two security personnel. Rescue works cannot begin without the arrival of reinforcements. The raging fire is also posing a problem. At present, we are pretty close to the site. About 150-200 metres below the crash site, there’s a hillock where a chopper can land, provided the weather is fair. Due to cloudy weather conditions, landing on the hill is impossible, for now.
