Finally, Kathmandu city finds alternative to Khulamanch to distribute food to needy

Volunteers distribute food to the needy at a ground in Thapathali of Kathmandu, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Kathmandu, November 18

The Kathmandu metropolitan city informs it has found an alternative to Khulamanch for distributing food to the people rendered jobless due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The city government says individuals and organisations interested in distributing food can continue their voluntary work at an open space behind the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Thapathali.

Some organisations began distributing food there from today itself.

Since the first week of this month, the local government had been making efforts to stop the food distribution campaign at Khulamanch citing distributing food in the open space gathering crowds insulted the city’s image and increased the risk of coronavirus infection also.

The municipal leadership had convinced the volunteers to discontinue to the campaign at Khulamanch from Tuesday assuring there would be options such as party venues for better management. However, after the options were not available until today, the volunteers had distributed food in the same way at Khulamanch on Tuesday also.
