Pokhara, June 4
Province 4 Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung says the federal government lacks federal mindset as it has tried to control rights and powers of provincial governments.
Gurung has been protesting the federal government expressing dissatisfaction with the annual budget statement it presented in Parliament last week. Earlier, he had commented that the federal government tried to treat provincial governments as subordinate bodies though they were also full-fledged governments.
Speaking at an interaction organised in Pokhara today, Gurung said provincial governments were in problem as the federal government did not address their concerns and grievances.
Gurung informed that he repeatedly requested the federal government to allocate sufficient resources and amount for provincial governments and he was assured that the budget statement would address the concerns. But, the statement failed to meet the expectations, he said.
In another context, the Nepal Communist Party leader said his government’s provincial budget would not be populist, but development oriented.
