Family of man electrocuted by power pole to receive Rs 1 million in compensation

Kavrepalanchok, May 19

The family of Upesh Nepali, who died after being electrocuted while working on an electric pole in Dhulikhel, Kavre, will receive Rs 1 million in compensation.

Upesh, a resident of Ishwarpur Municipality-12 in Sarlahi, lost his life during an electric line maintenance task assigned to Sudipa Nirman Sewa. On Sunday, a formal agreement was reached between Dipak Prasad Dhital, proprietor of Sudipa Nirman Sewa, and Upesh’s wife, Rashmila Pariyar.

As per the agreement, the compensation amount will be deposited into a joint account in the name of the family members within seven days.

The agreement also includes provisions for additional support to the bereaved family, including child education and household sustenance.

In a related development, Amrit Babu Adhikari, Executive Chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Kavre Distribution Center, has pledged to facilitate compensation between Rs 500,000 to Rs 1,000,000 under the Authority’s Electric Accident Compensation Regulations.

In a further gesture of support, the agreement also ensures employment for Upesh’s widow, Rashmila Pariyar. She will be provided with a job suitable to her qualifications at a location close to her residence, preferably within the Electricity Authority itself.

Executive Chief Adhikari has committed to taking necessary steps to guarantee her employment, according to the signed agreement.
