Nawalparasi, April 18

Here’s a good news for Nepal.

In Dhaubadi of Nawalparasi, a team of experts has located a huge deposit of iron ore. Local people claim that the ore used to be sent up to Palpa district during the rule of Sen kings.

The government has completed its first phase of study on the possibility of extracting iron from the huge deposit.

The team has returned to Kathmandu after conducting a study for 40 days. Minister for Industries, Som Prasad Pandey, himself had inspected the deposit.

The team has completed its study along a two-kilometre stretch. Geologist Narayan Banskota, a team member, said the site contains around 20 million tonnes of iron ore.

According to experts, the mine spreads in Dhaubadi in the east, Deurali VDC in the west,  Rumse in the south and Lhape in the north.

Naresh Maharjan, team leader, said they found 58 per cent iron ore in course of sample collection.

Meanwhile, Minister Pandey said mining will soon begin in Dhaubadi.
