Embassy tells Nepalis in Qatar to contact people via telephone, email only

Qatar is one of the most popular destinations for Nepali migrant workers.

Kathmandu, March 9

After the Qatari government imposed a temporary suspension on the arrival of people from 14 countries including Nepal so as to avoid the further spread of novel coronavirus, the Nepali Embassy in Qatar has urged Nepalis in the country to avoid meeting people physically.

The embassy has urged them to contact people via telephone or email whenever necessary. If they are required to contact the embassy, they do not need to go to the embassy in Doha physically, but can contact the embassy officials via phone (44765681, 44675683 or 44171962) or email ([email protected] or [email protected]), the embassy says.

More than 500,000 Nepalis currently work in the country.

Earlier on Sunday, the Doha government had announced that it would not allow anyone travelling from or via 14 countries including Nepal, India and China till next notice.
