Inaruwa (Sunsari), January 12

An elderly person died on the spot after being attacked by a wild elephant attack near the Simarban jungle of Baraha Kshetra in Sunsari district on January 11.

According to the District Police Office, a local Bhim Bahadur Bista, 69, has died in the attack. The elephant attacked him when he was returning home collecting grass from the jungle.

His body has been taken to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for post-mortem said police.

The presence of a herd of wild elephants has struck fear in the local communities in eastern Nepal, leading to the destruction of crops and damage to physical structures.
