At least three people were killed and 15 others injured when two vehicles collided head-on along the East-West Highway in Bhokraha Narsingha Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari district, on Sunday morning.
According to Yograj Khatiwada, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sunsari, the accident occurred at around 7:15 am when a bus (Me 1 Kha 1799) heading to Diktel with passengers from Kakadbhitta in Jhapa district and a microbus (Province 2-01-001 Ja 0047) travelling from the opposite direction crashed head-on.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. The injured have been taken to various hospitals in Inaruwa and Biratnagar for treatment. Police have taken the bus driver, Gopal Adhikari of Arjundhara Municipality-1 in Jhapa, into custody.
