Eight Indian tourists found unconscious at a hotel in Daman have died, confirm police.

The victims include four men and four women. They, however, are yet to be identified.

They were found unconscious at a hotel in Daman of Makawanpur district, around 55 kilometre southeast of Kathmandu, on Monday morning, and were airlifted to Kathmandu.

However, all of them died while undergoing treatment at the emergency ward of Hams Hospital in Dhumbarahi of the capital, according to DSP Umesh Lamsal of Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj.

“Preparations are underway to take the bodies to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for postmortem,” he says.

The District Police Office says they were found unconscious at Everest Panorama Resort in Daman, Thaha municipality-4. The security officials suspect that the tourists had gone to bed last night while warming up their rooms with gas heaters, and it might have suffocated them. The claim, however, is yet to be verified.

The tourists have not been identified yet. Further investigation is underway.
