The government has appointed Dr Narayan Datt Kandel as the Attorney General. The cabinet meeting held today recommended him to serve as the government’s chief legal advisor.
Following this, President Ramchandra Poudel officially appointed him to the post.
As Attorney General, Kandel will serve as the government’s legal advisor, oversee the prosecution of criminal cases, lead the government’s lawyers, and manage the legal arguments in all cases involving the state.
Kandel has previously served as a legal advisor in cases involving Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
He has also held leadership positions in the Journalists’ Association, Dhaulagiri branch, serving as chairperson from 2058 to 2060 BS.
