DPM Thapa to Prachanda: Don’t be part of a plot against national independence, sovereignty

Kamal-Thapa

Hetaunda, May 4

At a time when the KP Oli government seems to be falling apart, thanks to an evolving partnership between the main opposition Nepali Congress and the UCPN-Maoist, RPP-Nepal President, Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa, feels all this is part of a conspiracy against national independence and sovereignty.

Thapa, talking to the media in Hetaunda on Wednesday, asked Maoist Chair Prachanda not to put national independence and sovereignty at stake for the sake of position of power. Thapa asked Prachanda to do a rethink on his decision to withdraw support to the Oli government, describing the Maoist appeal to form a government under Prachanda’s leadership as ‘unexpected and inappropriate’.

Thapa stressed the need to work for political stability and prosperity, asking all not to harm national independence driven by greed for power. Dirty game for power will invite political instability, Thapa said, asking the Maoist party to review its decision on withdrawing support to the Oli government.

All parties in the ruling coalition should stand together, Thapa said, asking Prachanda to correct his decision, reminding him that he had played a role in bringing patriotic forces together.
