Kathmandu, July 24

After the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry postponed its scheduled election for the new executive team, a candidate for the senior vice-president has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.

Chandra Dhakal, who has already announced his candidacy for the senior vice-presidency, says another candidate of the position, Kishor Pradhan, pushed the FNCCI officials towards the deferral fearing his defeat.

As per the FNCCI charter, the incumbent senior vice-president will be automatically selected for the president’s position. Therefore, the biggest competition will be held for the position of senior vice-president. Incumbent vice-president Shekhar Golchha, who will be the president from the convention, has extended his support to Pradhan against Dhakal.

Earlier, a meeting of the FNCCI officials on Thursday had decided to postpone the general convention scheduled for August 9 and 10 until the next notice citing the risk of Covid-19 spread has not decreased yet.
