Kathmandu, April 19
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Madheshi Morcha leader Upendra Yadav held discussions on possibilities of bringing the Morcha on board the local level elections scheduled for May 14.
The two leaders held a telephone conversation on Tuesday evening about how the agitating parties could take part in the elections, according to the sources.
During the conversation, Deuba had told Yadav that the government could hold the polls in two phases if the Morcha was ready to take part.
Just hours before the talk, he had publicly announced the same at a mass meeting in Damak of Jhapa.
Deuba was in Jhapa whereas Yadav was in Janakpur to attend functions of respective parties yesterday.
It has been learnt that while the ruling parties had been ready to extend the elections to two phases to convince the Morcha, some constituents of the agitating bloc were also eager for the voting.
