The Parliamentary Hearing Committee comprising lawmakers from both houses of the Federal Parliament is scheduled to conduct the hearing on the nomination of Mahendra Bahadur Pandey as Nepal’s ambassador to China, on Monday.

Though all other parliamentary activities have come to a standstill owing to the growing fears of coronavirus infection in Nepal, the House committee has decided to continue the hearing.

Earlier, the panel had called for complaints against Pandey, a central leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and a former foreign affairs minister. However, no one filed any complaint in the given 10-day timeframe.

Pandey has been summoned to the meeting to be held at 11:45 am at Singhadarbar today.

After the committee’s endorsement, the president will appoint him to the position. He will also work as a non-residential Nepali ambassador to Mongolia and North Korea.
