Democratic Forum to recall Dev, Dahit from Cabinet

L-R: Gopal Dahit and Jitendra Narayan Dev

Kathmandu, September 24

The Nepal Democratic Forum led by senior-most Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar is preparing to recall its two leaders from the Cabinet citing they could not meet the party’s expectations.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jitendra Narayan Dev and Minister for Land Reform and Management Gopal Dahit will be asked to come back from the Cabinet as they could not satisfy the party with their performance, according to an official of the party.

A meeting of the party’s top leaders held in Kathmandu yesterday had begun discussions over the recall as leaders expressed dissatisfaction over their roles.

The two ministers have been accused of bypassing the party while making significant decisions. Further, Dev has been accused of trying to sack Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal’s Director General Sanjiv Gautam after being assured of some financial benefits.

The party leaders say he also received bribe for appointing officials of some other committees.

“Further, the two leaders did not consult and cooperate with the Prime Minister,” a source at the party says.
