The executive chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that a recent statement of Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, in which he claimed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli agreed with India to publish a new Indian political map including the disputed Kalapani region, has ensured the victory of NCP candidate Bidya Bhattarai in the by-election to be held in Kaski district this Saturday.

Claiming that Deuba’s statement was a lie, Dahal said the statement affected the opposition party’s popularity ahead of the polls, hence it would benefit the CPN candidate.

“I would like to thank Sher Bahadurji for ensuring Bidya Bhattarai’s victory,” he said, “But please stop lying. Try to catch sentiments of the federal democratic republic. Otherwise, your party could be a myth.”

Dahal was addressing a mass meeting organised in Pokhara this afternoon to solicit votes for Bhattarai.
