The Department of Customs says it had introduced special measures to ensure that the import of Covid-19 vaccines will take place in a speedy manner in the future.

As various countries have begun using Covid-19 vaccines and the country also imported the first lot of vaccines received for free from India, Nepal is hoping for the import of vaccines by the government and private companies soon. In this context, the department’s Director-General Suman Dahal says it has introduced an 11-point plan of action to ensure the uninterrupted supply of the vaccines.

Dahal says a dedicated unit has been established at the Tribhuvan International Airport whereas a rapid response team is on standby to coordinate with the department and deal with any problem there.

If the importing companies submit documents in advance, the department will also arrange pre-arrival processing, assures the department.
