Kathmandu, April 23
Citing the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in Kathmandu, the Pashupati Area Development Trust has decided to shut the revered temple for Hindus from the world indefinitely.
Issuing a ‘very urgent’ notice to the public on Thursday, the trust’s treasurer Milan Kumar Thapa said the temple would be closed from Friday until further notice. The Guhyeshwari temple among other major shrines in the area has also been closed, according to him.
Thapa said regular daily worships and prayers would continue without the involvement of visitors during this period.
Last year also, when the country went on lockdown to control the spread of the coronavirus on March 24, 2020, the temple closed. It reopened in December only.
Various religious organisations had protested the decision to close the temple then.
