Chitwan woman, reportedly abducted, found dead after 9 days

File: Sujita Bhandari

Chitwan, July 5

A woman in Chitwan has been found dead in a community forest of the district on Sunday, nine days after her disappearance.

The body of Sujita Bhandari was recovered inside the Brahmasthini community forest in the Rapti municipality on Sunday afternoon, the District Police Office Chief SP Om Prasad Adhikari informs Onlinekhabar, adding his family identified the body as hers in the evening.

Earlier, the family had filed a complaint claiming she was abducted, claiming Bhandari called her sister to inform her of the crime.

However, the police, during an investigation, had rejected the suspicion of the abduction as her location was found somewhere else and no one had asked for any ransom from the family. The Central Investigation Bureau had also launched a probe into the case.

Now, with the recovery of the body, a new phase of the investigation will start, informs SP Adhikari.

“We will also mobilise sniffer dogs and forensic doctors.”
