Chief Election Commissioner Yadav urges voters to exercise right without fear

Kathmandu, November 24

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has urged all voters in constituencies going to polls on Sunday to exercise their right without fear.

Yadav, who was speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Friday, said that the government has assured the commission that adequate security measures have been put in place ahead of the first round of elections.

Some sporadic incidents of violence were reported in the past few days, said Yadav, adding that the security picture, overall is good and voters can go to polls without fear. “We are in constant touch with the security agencies,” said Yadav.

He called on all political parties to adhere to the code of conduct and respect the rules of the ‘silent period’.
