Cash incentive attracts children to school in Myagdi

The number of students attending classes at Jadbharat Primary School in Galeshwor of Beni Municipality-9, Myagdi has increased with the school’s decision to provide cash incentive for students to students who come to class regularly.

Students who come to school regularly and those who take part in extra-curricular activities are entitled to a monthly allowance of Rs 200, said school teacher Lokendra Bahadur Khadka. The school’s decision has also encouraged parents to send their children to school.

Bam Bahadur Pun, a former chairman of the school management committee, said the incentive has made quite a difference in the lives of children.

According to the school, Khim Sherchan of Raghuganga Rural Municipality who works at a social organisation based in the UK launched a fundraising campaign to support the school, and the administrators use the the money to finance the incentive programme.
