Education Ministry holds talks with protesting resident doctors

Kathmandu, October 8

Resident doctors at the National Medical College in Birgunj have approached the government, seeking solutions to the challenges they face.

After 24 days of protest, the resident doctors visited the Ministry of Education and Sports at Singha Durbar to present their concerns and demands.

During the meeting, more than 40 first-year resident doctors shared the challenges they face in their academic and professional lives with senior ministry officials.

The doctors raised concerns about the college administration, citing excessive pressure on students and a lack of a conducive learning environment. They urged the government to ensure a peaceful and respectful environment at the college so that they can resume their studies without disruption.

Shailendra Jha, adviser to the Education Minister, and other senior ministry officials were present at the meeting.

The resident doctors expressed confidence that the government would address their concerns and hoped for a positive intervention to resolve the issues.
