Kathmandu, August 28
The government has made public the key decisions of Thursday’s Cabinet meeting. Government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel announced the decisions.
The Cabinet instructed the Ministry of Finance to prepare a relief and rehabilitation package, or business recovery package, for individuals and businesses affected by floods in Rasuwa, including the Rasuwagadhi area along the Nepal-China border, the Bhotekoshi River and downstream areas.
The Cabinet also granted in-principle approval to Agriculture Inputs Company Limited to purchase 25,000 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser from the Government of India through a government-to-government (G2G) procurement mechanism.
Similarly, the Prime Minister and all members of the Council of Ministers will contribute one month’s salary and remuneration to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support people affected by the floods along the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa and the Bhotekoshi River on August 26.
