Kathmandu, September 19

Expressing its concerns over the induction of two more state ministers into the Cabinet, the Election Commission has said the move violated the code of conduct enforced for provincial and federal parliamentary elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

The constitutional body has hence asked the government to “correct” the decision.

The Commission has said the decision “restricts fairness, value and healthy competition during elections; disrespects principles of balance and separation of power among constitutional bodies of the state; and is against the code of conduct.”

Just yesterday, two leaders of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic had joined the government as state ministers.

Few days ago, PM had incorporated three ministers and a state minister from the same party and the Commission had commented that it was a violation of the poll code. The Prime Minister, however, did not heed the comment and expanded the Cabinet again.

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has hence already state dthat he cannot nag the PM further about it.
