(Updated) Bus plunges into Trishuli, death toll climbs to 30

The death toll in the Saturday morning Trishuli river bus plunge has climbed to 30. According to police, 11 men, 12 women and a child have died in the accident in Dhading, near Kathmandu. Most of the deceased are from Saptari in Province 2 in southern Nepal.

A bus carrying undisclosed number of passengers plunged into the Trishuli river on Saturday morning, authorities said as they begin search for the missing vehicle.

According to police, the bus fell off the road near Bangemod in Gajuri Gaunpalika. It was heading to Kathmandu from Sapatari’s Rajbiraj.

Police say they do not know how many people were on the bus. Fifteen people have been rescued from the river so far.

Nepal Police and army personnel are at the scene.
