Kathmandu, October 4

The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has said it is unlikely to join either of the leftist or democratic alliances in upcoming elections of federal House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly though it shares some principles with both the groups.

The party’s spokesperson Surya Raj Acharya says, “We are close to democratic forces in terms of political principles. However, it is too early to say whether we are joining any alliance. Neither have we received any proposal.”

He, however, maintains that the party has more proximity with leftists in terms of values regarding social justice and equality.

“But, there is sufficient space for us in the national politics even if leftist and democratic forces polarise.”

Meanwhile, Acharya has suspected that the leftist parties have decided to form the alliance just to secure power.

“We have taken the leftist alliance positively. However, I still doubt if this polarisation is just a search of power than based on any ideology, principle or political perspective.”

The newly formed force wants to establish itself as a national party from the upcoming polls.
