Bibeksheel Sajha against Hetaunda City’s decision to sell public land to lawmakers at low price

Provincial lawmakers of Bibeksheel Sajha Party

Kathmandu, February 11

The Bibeksheel Sajha Party, which has been advocating for alternative politics, has protested the recent decision of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City in Makawanpur district to let Province 3 Assembly members buy public land at the government-decided rate, which is much lower than the market value.

Hetaunda has recently been named the temporary provincial capital and the decision apparently wants to seek support of as many lawmakers as possible to make it the permanent one. The Assembly will decide the permanent capital soon.

The new party, which has three members in the provincial legislature, says the decision is an example of corruption and exploitation of state property.

“Either the City should be able to implement the government-decided rate strictly in the market, or it should not distribute the government property this way,” Bibeksheel Sajha’s parliamentary party leader Ramemsh Paudel says, adding his party’s lawmakers will raise voice at the Assembly meeting against the decision.

In another context, Paudel says his party is yet to make any decision about the permanent capital of the Province.
