Pokhara, March 29

Health officials in Gandaki province have decided that a teenage girl who has been confirmed as Nepal’s fifth coronavirus positive case will not be taken to Kathmandu for treatment.

The 19-year-old is currently admitted to Dhaulagiri Hospital in the district, and she will stay there for further treatment, according to the Provincial Health Director Binod Bindu Sharma. “Her health condition is normal now. We have sufficient doctors also. Hence, the treatment will take place in Dhaulagiri Hospital,” he says, “We will send necessary equipment for treatment (from Pokhara).”

“The ministries of home affairs and health and population (at the central level) have also allowed us to keep here in Baglung,” he says, “We are making all arrangements ready for treatment.”

Meanwhile, two other people who recently returned from Belgium to the district are being tested for the virus.
