Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has a glass front, glass back and an aluminium frame build. The phone has a unique design. The back of the phone is something unlikely you have seen in a regular smartphone. It has a secondary two-inch OLED display, which ROG marketed as a full-colour ROG vision display that is customisable to six different scenarios. There is also an RGB dare to play logo, which can also be modified according to the use. The phone has an extra charging port at the side so that the users can continue their gaming while the phone gets charged. Similarly, the camera module also has a neat finish.

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has an ultrasonic trigger on the upper corner of the frame and can be used during gaming. The curved back also makes the phone comfortable in the hands. The back of the phone has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Better protection was expected from a flagship phone. Also, IPX4 waterproof rating does not seem impressive at all.

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro is heavier and thicker than a normal smartphone. The phone weighs around 239 grams and is 10.3mm thick. It is available in white only.

On the front of the phone is a 6.78-inch AMOLED display offering a resolution of 1,080*2,448 pixels with 395 PPI density. This is one of the first displays on a smartphone with a refresh rate of 165Hz. The display also supports the HDR10+ feature allowing a more dynamic view of the media. Using the phone in a broad daylight should also not be a problem as it can reach a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. Furthermore, the display also has a 720Hz touch sampling rate, resulting in immediate and smooth touch response. The display has Gorilla Glass Victus protection and also has Eye Care Display technology.

Cameras

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has a triple camera system. The main camera on the back is a flagship Sony IMX766 50 MP camera, which is said to have improved image quality and HDR processing. The camera is accompanied by 13MP ultrawide and 5MP macro sensors. On the front is a 12MP camera for selfies or live-streaming.

The main camera on the phone is capable of capturing 8K resolution videos at 24fps while it can manage to capture 4K resolution videos at up to 120 fps. Enhanced software programs like HDR10+ video mode enables the camera to record high-quality videos. The front camera is only capable of capturing videos in 1080p resolution.

Gaming performance and storage

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro is a fully dedicated gaming smartphone and everything on the phone is built around that. The phone runs on Android 12 mixed up with the company’s custom Zen UI with ROG UI. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4nm), Qualcomm’s latest smartphone chipset. This should provide the phone with an unmatched speed and performance. Similarly, Adreno 730 makes sure that the games run smoothly. Supporting the games that require the highest performance should never be an issue for ROG Phone 6 Pro.

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro offers a massive 18GB of RAM coupled with 512GB of internal storage. This is probably the highest combination of storage on a smartphone. There is no memory card slot on the phone, but the internal storage makes up for that. For cooling, during gaming, it features an all-new 360 degrees CPU cooling technology. This will allow the game to run smoothly with the best graphics available and without dropping the frame rate.

The customisable air triggers on the phone provide an advantage during gaming over traditional smartphones. There are no physical pop-up triggers on the phone but rather a simple touch-sensitive control that can be configured to the user’s preference.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has a 6,000mAh non-removable li-po battery. However, instead of a single large unit, the battery has been divided into two 3,000mAh halves. ROG claims this helps in the management of the phone balance and its heat–dissipation capabilities as well.

The charging feature on the phone is also equally impressive as it features a 65W fast charger that can get the battery fully charged in just 42 minutes. This can be extremely useful during gaming. Furthermore, the phone also supports 10W reverse charging. Due to the display on the back panel of the phone, there is no wireless charging feature on the phone.

Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro features dual sims with support of 5G network connectivity. It also has Wifi 6 for faster internet connectivity. The Bluetooth 5.2 on the phone can be used for wireless pairing while the USB Type-C 3.1 (side) and USB Type-C 2.0 (bottom) cable can be used for charging or wired pairing with other devices.

The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro has a GameFX audio system that offers symmetrical dual speakers for balanced stereo sound effects. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition to the premium sound quality, GameFX also lets the user individually fine-tune the EQ bands for different scenarios effects, such as games, music, or cinema.
