Both of them have the same build, same camera system, same OS and the phone’s dimensions and audio are the same as well. The phone differs in terms of design, colour availability, storage and price. Whichever you choose, these phones are purely built to enhance the gaming experience.

Design and display

Asus ROG Phone 6 has a similar build of a glass front, glass back and an aluminium frame as seen on the Pro version. It has a similar styling as seen on the Pro version. The phone has curved and smooth frosted glass on the back with rounded sides. Instead of a secondary display, this phone has Aura RGB lighting on the rear, which can be personalised with a huge choice of colours and preset mood-lighting schemes.

The Dare to Play logo and ROG 6 branding on the back further add the gaming elements to the design. The phone has Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the back and has the same IPX4 waterproof rating as seen on the Pro variant.

Asus ROG Phone 6 weighs 239 grams and measures 10.3 mm in thickness. The users may find it difficult to carry around due to its size. It is available in storm white and phantom black colour options.

On the front is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel offering a resolution of 1,080*2,448 pixels with 395 PPI density. Furthermore, the display also supports a 165Hz refresh rate with a whooping 720Hz touch sampling rate. For a dynamic view of the media, the display has the support HDR10+ and is easily usable during daytime as it can achieve a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. For the protection of the display, Asus has provided Gorilla Glass Victus on this model. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor on the phone for biometrics.

Asus ROG Phone 6 has a triple camera setup on the back. Though the prime focus of the phone is on gaming, Asus has managed to include a decent set of cameras on the phone. But, one can always argue that with the price this phone is being sold at, there could have been better-performing cameras.

There is a 50MP Sony IMX766 camera on the back, which is accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro sensor. Meanwhile, there is a 12MP selfie shooter on the front.

Ultra-high definition (UHD) videos can be captured from Asus ROG Phone 6. The main camera on the phone is capable of capturing 8K resolution videos at 24fps while it can capture 4K resolution videos at 60fps. Similarly, the camera also captures videos with the HDR10+ feature providing vivid colours. The main camera can even capture slow-motion videos in 4K and up to 120fps. On the other end, the front camera is only capable of capturing 1080p resolution videos, which is kind of subpar for a gaming phone.

Gaming, performance and storage

Asus ROG Phone 6 has customisable air triggers. This is different from a physical pop-up trigger as seen on most gaming phones. The triggers work just like a joystick and provide an advantage during gaming over traditional smartphones. The control can also be configured to the user’s preference.

Performance should not be an issue for Asus ROG Phone 6 as the phone runs on Android 12 and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4nm), the most powerful chipset till now from Qualcomm. The graphical duties on the phone are handled by Adreno 730. The phone is capable of supporting even games with the highest demand for graphics.

Asus ROG Phone 6 comes in three RAM options and three internal storage options. The phone is available in 8GB, 12GB and 16GB of RAM options with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB internal storage. To ensure smooth gaming or prolonged gaming session, the phone has an all-new 360 degrees CPU cooling technology. This ensures the phone stays cool and maintains the frame rate during intensive gaming.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Asus ROG Phone 6 has a 6,000mAh non-removable li-po battery. This phone too has two 3,000mAh batteries instead of a single large unit, thus helping the device to balance its heat-dissipation capabilities. Support of a 65W fast charger means the battery will get fully charged in just 42 minutes. There is a provision for reverse charging as well. There is no wireless charging on this model as well. The phone has a charging port on the side as well, which can be handy during gaming.

Asus ROG Phone 6 supports dual sims with 5G network connectivity. The Wifi 6 feature on the phone will help for faster internet connectivity. Similarly, there is Bluetooth 5.2 on the phone, which can be used for wireless pairing and the USB Type-C 3.1 (side) and USB Type-C 2.0 (bottom) cable can be used for charging or wired pairing with other devices.

Like the Pro variant, Asus ROG Phone 6 also has a GameFX audio system. This system offers symmetrical dual speakers for balanced stereo sound effects. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is usually not seen in a high-ranged smartphone.
