Anti-government protests continue in Kathmandu

Protesters demand government improve coronavirus test services and quarantine facilities, in Kathmandu, on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

Kathmandu, June 13

Protests launched against the government’s inefficiency in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic in Nepal have continued in Kathmandu on Saturday also.

The young protesters came to Maitighar of Kathmandu today, among other places, and demonstrated, maintaining distance. They demanded that the government expand the range of PCR tests, improve the condition of quarantine facilities, and stop the rapid diagnostic tests.

Owing to the protestors’ pressure, the government has recently made public details of the expenses during the government’s Covid-19 response public.

Meanwhile, the protestors also thanked the government for registering a constitution amendment bill to recognise the country’s new political map incorporating the India-encroached Kalapani-Limpiyadhura region. The House of Representatives is voting on the bill this afternoon.
