Rautahat, October 1

A woman has been reported dead in the custody of Garuda Area Police Office in Rautahat of southern Nepal on Thursday.

The incident takes place just around one month after a similar incident at the same station. Then, family members had accused the police of inflicting torture on the detainee and killed him. Following that, three police officials were suspended.

Radhika Raut, a resident of Katanibajaar, Guraja-2 of the district, was found dead in the custody this morning. Accusing her of an extramarital affair, her husband Suman had taken her to police on Wednesday evening. Police had detained her for further investigation.

Police have claimed that woman was suffering from epilepsy and she had fallen unconscious twice last night.

DSP Bharat Shrestha of the District Police Office says further investigation is underway.
