Casualties have been suspected as an aircraft carrying 22 people has gone missing in western Nepal on Sunday morning.

Officials say the Tara Air aircraft that had taken off the Pokhara airport for Jomsom of the Mustang district is out of contact.

It is suspected that the aeroplane might have crashed in the Ghansa area of Mustang.

The Twin Otter aircraft was carrying 22 people, including 16 Nepalis and six foreigners.

The Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokharel says two helicopters are searching for the aircraft. However, cloudy weather conditions have affected the search operation.
