Kathmandu, October 16
After the party Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has decided to merge Nepal Democratic Forum with the Nepali Congress, a dissident section of the party are planning to revolt.
They say they will revamp the party under the leadership of Shiva Lal Thapa.
Just some months ago, four fringe parties had been unified with Gachhadar’s Forum. Leaders of these parties are not happy with Gachhadar’s bid to merge with the Congress.
Thapa, Yashoda Lama, Mahesh Karmocha, Bhanuram Tharu and Sonam Chhiring Sherpa held a meeting on Monday morning and decided to launch a legal struggle for the existence of the party, according to Thapa.
Thapa says they have also begun consulting legal experts to protect the party’s election symbol, claiming his side has the majority support.
Meanwhile, Lama said she was frustrated with recent political discussions. “I am tired now. It feels politics is not my cup of tea.”
