Cabinet takes 11 key decisions: Pay hike, Japan grant and new appointments

 The government has made public the key decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday afternoon.

Government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmita Pokhrel announced the decisions.

Among the key decisions, the government has increased the monthly remuneration grant for early childhood development facilitators, school employees and school support staff by Rs 5,000.

The Cabinet has also decided to bring the salaries of teachers working under teaching assistance grants at the lower secondary and secondary levels in line with those of third-grade government teachers at the respective levels.

The major Cabinet decisions are:

  1. Approved the Software Development and Operation Committee Formation Order, 2026.
  2. Accepted a grant of around Rs 2.73 billion from the Government of Japan for an air traffic control improvement project at Tribhuvan International Airport.
  3. Approved a delegation led by a joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to participate in the 14th meeting of the Joint Working Group on Border Management, scheduled to be held in India on August 20 and 21.
  4. Approved the establishment of a sub-centre of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center in Nepal.
  5. Approved a Nepali delegation led by the foreign minister to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
  6. Increased the federal government’s monthly remuneration grant for early childhood development facilitators, school employees and school support staff by Rs 5,000.
  7. Decided to bring the salaries of teachers working under teaching assistance grants at Grades 9–10 and Grades 6–8 in line with those of third-grade secondary and lower-secondary teachers, respectively.
  8. Approved negotiations for a bilateral air services agreement between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.
  9. Approved the submission to the Federal Parliament of a bill to amend the Payment and Settlement Act.
  10. Approved the submission to the Federal Parliament of a bill to amend the Citizen Investment Trust Act.
  11. Promoted Joint Secretary Kamal Prasad Bhattarai to the gazetted special class (secretary) and appointed him as chief secretary of the Bagmati Province Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
