The stock market climbed to 2,600 points on Thursday. The NEPSE index increased by 34.22 points from the previous day to close at 2,600.38.
The transaction volume also saw a notable rise. Thursday’s turnover reached Rs 7.51 billion, up from Rs 5.45 billion the previous day. The increase was largely due to heavy trading of Himalayan Bank’s founder shares, worth Rs 1.66 billion.
Share prices of 216 companies increased, 28 declined, and 5 remained unchanged. The hydropower sub-index gained the most, rising by 2.67 percent.
Banking rose by 0.33%, development banks by 1.23%, finance by 1.60%, hotels and tourism by 0.75%, investment by 1.35%, life insurance by 1.80%, manufacturing and processing by 1.74%, microfinance by 1.60%, non-life insurance by 1.75%, others by 1.06%, and trading by 0.88%.
Guras Laghubitta and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta saw their prices jump by 10 percent. Super Madi Hydropower rose by 9.54%, Ganapati Laghubitta by 9.46%, and Peoples Hydropower by 9.08%.
Asha Laghubitta recorded the sharpest decline at 4.79%, followed by Upakar Laghubitta (3.96%) and Himalayan Power Partner (3.75%).
The five most traded companies of the day were Himalayan Bank (founder shares), Radhi Hydropower, Nepal Reinsurance, Sahas Urja, and Butwal Power Company.
