KU students sit for exams, their peers invigilate

Kathmandu University

Kathmandu, August 9

Undergraduate students at Kathmandu University sat for their final exams on Friday, but their teachers did not invigilate the examinations. The university appointed students who did not have their exam scheduled for Friday, as invigilators.

The university was forced to take such a drastic measure after professors and employees of the university went on strike demanding that KU implement agreements signed in the past with the workers’ unions.

“This must be the first time that students invigilated their peers’ exams.” a student who sat for the two-hour exam that began at 11 am told Onlinekhabar. The agitated employees, under the leadership of the professors’ association, has padlocked the offices of the deans demanding that the CIAA probe into irregularities at the university and that KU appoint a representative nominated by the professors’ union to its executive body.
