Kathmandu, July 9

Of four million doses of the Vero Cell Covid-19 vaccines that Nepal recently purchased from the Sinopharm company of China, 800,00 doses have arrived in Kathmandu on Friday morning.

A Nepal Airlines aircraft loaded with vaccines landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu this morning, informs Dr Jhalak Sharma Gautam, the chief of the Vaccination Section in the Department of Health Services.

The government has confirmed it will receive around 2.4 million doses of the vaccines by July 23. While the first flight came back with the vaccines today, two more flights will take place by that date.

The government has signed a non-disclosure agreement with the Chinese company for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines. Although the government has not made public the details such as the number of the vaccines, sources say a total of four million doses is being purchased.
