Ncell tax case: House committee gives govt two months to settle issue

Kathmandu, July 13

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has reminded the government that it needs to collect capital gains tax from mobile phone operator Ncell within the next two months.

A meeting of the committee held on Thursday has ordered the Inland Revenue Department to finish the task within two months. According to the committee Ncell owes around Rs 35 billion to the government as capital gains tax.

Committee chief Dor Prasad Upadhyaya has also ordered the government to submit to the panel all documents related to TeliaSonera’s exit from Nepal.

 

The committee has also ordered the government to not compromise on efficiency and transparency when spending money.
