Kathmandu, March 12

Kathmandu police have arrested four people in Bauddha of Kathmandu in possession of 2.5 kilograms of what they call unprocessed uranium recently.

This is the first that the police arrested someone on the charge of uranium smuggling, informs AIG Haru Bahadur Pal.

A test has proved it to become uranium-238, and once processed a kilogram will cost Rs 18 billion, according to Pal.

Speaking in a press meet at the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office, Pal said they would be booked as per the Explosives Act as the processed uranium is used in making nuclear plants, explosives and ammunition.
