Kathmandu, January 22

The government is distributing the first installment of the quake relief package to the quake victims of Bhaktapur from Sunday. There are around 26,000 quake-displaced families in the district.

Bhishma Kumar Bhusal, assistant spokesperson for the National Reconstruction Authority, told Onlinekhabar that they are preparing to provide the first installment of the quake grants to 18,000 families that have fulfilled required criteria.

Bhaktapur district development committee has already forwarded to the banks concerned the money meant for distribution to these quake victims, Bharat Kumar Thapa, planning officer at the committee, informed.

Twenty-six banks based in Bhaktapur will provide the first installment of the grants to the victims.

According to officer Thapa, Rs 50,000 will be deposited at the bank accounts of the 18,000 families today itself. The beneficiaries can withdraw the money today itself.

The DDC promised to provide the first installment of the grants to the remaining 8,000 quake-hit families of the district soon.

The relief distribution is beginning about two years after the great quake.
