Nepal flood and landslide: Death toll rises to 30

At least 30 people have lost their lives and thousands displaced in different parts of Nepal as incessant rain that began on Friday continues on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, seven people have died in Sunsari, four in Jhapa, three in Morang, one each in Bara, Sarlahi and Dang and four in Banke, three in Panchthar, four in Sindhuli and one each in Palpa and Bardia.

Officials say water level in the Kankai, Saptakoshi, Madi, Narayani, Babai and western Rapti has exceeded the danger level. Most areas in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Dang and Banke remain inundated.

The weather forecasting office says more rain is expected on Sunday throughout the country.
