Will we ever get justice, Nirmala Pant’s parents question PM

Kathmandu, September 17

Parents of Nirmala Pant, who was raped and murdered in Bhimdutta Nagar of Kanchanpur district around two months ago, on Monday met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, pleading for justice.

During the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Pant’s mother Durga Devi narrated to the PM what happened to her daughter, before asking Oli, “Will we ever get justice?”

On the occasion, rights activists, who accompanied Durga Devi and her husband Yagya Raj, told the Prime Minister that he was misinformed about the incident.

In response, the Prime Minister said he was committed to taking action against the culprits. “Nirmala is our daughter as well. No one should face the same fate tomorrow.”

During the meeting, the couple also handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister, demanding the probe process get expedited and the culprits be booked at the earliest.

Receiving the memorandum, the Prime Minister a team was mobilised for the task.
