RPP decides to back government’s constitution amendment bill

Kathmandu, April 12

Rastriya Prajatantra Party, a member of the ruling alliance, has decided to back the government’s new proposal to amend the constitution to address the demands of the Madheshi Morcha.

A meeting of the party’s office bearers decided to support the bill in Parliament despite some reservations as the bill’s objective was to create a conducive environment for dissident parties to contest the upcoming elections.

The meeting has also decided to delegate authority to local units to enter into alliances to secure maximum possible seats in the upcoming elections. But the local units will have to get approval from the centre do so.
