Kathmandu, March 22
The Election Commission has also rejected a report prepared by the European Union’s election observation mission to Nepal urging the government to scrap reservation for members of the Khas/Aryan community.
“The EU report and its press statement are misleading, baseless and against the international election observation code of conduct, and hence the EC rejects it completely,” reads a statement issued by the EC.
The Commission also said that the report was a serious violation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Commission on October 24. It says that in light of the breach of code of conduct by the EU mission, the EC will adopt more stringent measures when issuing permits to poll observers in the future.
