China hands over expanded Kalanki-Koteshwar section of Ring Road

Kathmandu, January 28

The government of China on Monday officially handed over the expanded Kalanki-Koteshwar section of Ring Road in Kathmandu.

Amidst a special function organised in the capital this morning, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, handed over the the road to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Raghubir Mahaseth.

Immediately after the handover, Oli and Mahaseth inaugurated the expanded section.

Speaking at the function, Prime Minister Oli thanked the Beijing government for its contribution to Nepal’s development.

He reiterated that Nepal would make the country prosperous and the citizens happy by taking both of its neighbours into confidence.

China had begun the expansion works along 10.39 km section around five years ago. It has been learned that it will expand other sections of the 27 km Ring Road soon.
