Vice-president Pun takes his oath of office

Kathmandu, March 19

Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun, was was elected unopposed on Sunday, has taken his oath of office,

The former rebel commander from Ropla was administered the oath of office by President Bidya Devi Bhandari amid a function organised at the Office of the President.

Prime Minister KP Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly Chair Govinda Timilsina, acting Chief Just Deepak Raj Joshee, ministers, heads of constitutional bodies and security agencies and members of Parliament were present during the function.

Pun became the Vice-president with backing from the Left Alliance. Under a deal between UML chief Oli and Maoist Chairman Prachanda, Bhandari was to retain the post of President and Pun the Vice-president.
