Vehicle used by Congress candidate for electioneering torched in Kaski

Pokhara, May 10

A vehicle used by a ward chairperson candidate in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality of Kaski district has been torched by an unidentified group in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Bikram Gurung, the Nepali Congress ward chairperson candidate in Machhapuchhre-1, was using the four-wheeler (Ga 1 Ja 5148) for his electioneering.

The arson attackers had poured petrol on the vehicle before torching it.

All parts of the vehicle except the tyres have been burned in the attack.

Spokesperson at the District Police Office, DSP Khadga Bahadur Khatri, says police are searching for the attackers.

It has been suspected that Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led CPN Maoist, which has been carrying out anti-election activities in various parts of the nation, might be involved in the incident.

A similar incident was reported from the same rural municipality four days ago as well.
