Kathmandu, September 1
Doctors who are not registered with the Nepal Medical Council can now obtain temporary registration to provide treatment to flood victims. The Nepal Medical Council announced this in a notice issued on Monday.
The council said domestic and foreign doctors, health volunteers and organisations wishing to treat people injured in natural disasters can obtain temporary registration from the council.
“Doctors and organisations not registered with the Nepal Medical Council may obtain approval or temporary registration from the council before providing treatment services, either individually or collectively, in accordance with Nepal’s prevailing laws, regulations and rules,” the notice said.
The council also said doctors and organisations involved in providing treatment must coordinate with the Disaster Management Division of the Ministry of Health.
They have also been requested to submit details of the personnel involved in providing treatment, the resources and medical supplies used, and accurate records of the people who received treatment to both the ministry’s Disaster Management Division and the council.
